TwinAIR partner ISGlobal showcased a poster at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) Annual Congress 2025 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 28 September 2025.
The main review of the poster highlights that poor indoor environmental quality, including air pollutants, noise, temperature, humidity, and crowding, negatively affects health, particularly respiratory outcomes such as asthma, reduced lung function, and respiratory infections. The evidence also points to links with other health outcomes, including cardiovascular effects, acute symptoms related to Sick Building Syndrome, and impacts on mental health and overall well-being.
From over 7.000 studies reviewed, 74 met inclusion criteria, covering a variety of indoor settings such as homes, workplaces, educational, leisure, and transport environments. These studies show that exposure patterns and related health impacts vary across different spaces.
The findings strengthen the evidence base for health impact assessments and provide decision-makers with valuable insights to promote and design healthier indoor environments.
The congress attracted 20.000 participants, including academic researchers and industry professionals, with the poster area primarily visited by academic attendees.
