The City of Trikala and e-Trikala S.A. proudly presented the TwinAIR project during the annual Major Cities of Europe (MCE) Conference 2025, held on 9–10 October in Issy-les-Moulineaux, Paris Metropolitan Area.
Under the theme “Piloting Disruptive Innovation in Cities and Regions,” the conference gathered representatives from European cities, research institutions, and technology companies to exchange experiences on how data and digital technologies can improve urban health and sustainability.
During the event, e-Trikala showcased the TwinAIR pilot in Trikala, which combines environmental monitoring, digital twins, and citizen participation to assess indoor air quality (IAQ) and its impact on public health.
Through a network of sensors installed in various public and private buildings, the project collects real-time data on temperature, humidity, CO₂, and pollutants, while an epidemiological study investigates how these factors relate to respiratory symptoms and wellbeing.
The initiative aims to identify determinants of indoor air quality and develop evidence-based strategies to reduce exposure and promote healthier indoor environments across Europe.
e-Trikala’s participation in MCE 2025 reaffirmed Trikala’s position as a European Living Lab for Smarter, Greener, and Healthier Cities, contributing to the EU Mission: 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030.
